UMBC Training Centers Opens Northern Virginia Location to Bring Technology Training and Certification Programs to the Nation’s Capital

Programs Geared Toward Tech Workers Seeking Technical Certifications and Job Advancement; Cyber Security a Key Offering

UMBC Training Centers, delivering high-quality, flexible, non-credit education and training programs, today announced that it has opened a new office in Northern Virginia to provide programs to individuals, government agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia region. UMBC Training Centers extends the academic excellence of UMBC – which recently topped US News & World Report’s list of "Up and Coming Universities" for the second year in a row – to working professionals looking for career advancement and technical certifications.

UMBC Training Centers offers a number of non-credit and certification courses that are particularly relevant to the Capital Region, focusing in the areas of Cyber Security, Project Management and Engineering. Other program areas include Leadership Development, Instructional Systems Design and Human Resource Management.

"With Federal initiatives such as the DoD 8570 cyber security mandate, it is a necessity for government employees and contractors to obtain specific certifications to continue to have access to critical DoD systems," said Kent Malwitz, Vice President of UMBC Training Centers. "Working professionals in the D.C. area are busy and we work with them and their employers to create and deliver courses taught by experienced practitioners and scheduled to accommodate their availability. Our courses not only provide necessary certifications and credentials for career advancement, but also new skills that can be put to use immediately."

"We are excited to expand into Northern Virginia and reconnect with our loyal and successful alumni, many of whom hold positions of leadership in the area’s business community," said David Mowbray, Business Development Manager at UMBC Training Centers.

Courses will be offered at the new Tysons Corner location as well as locations in Catonsville, Shady Grove and Aberdeen Proving Ground. In addition, programs can be customized for group training on location with any organization or agency.

UMBC Training Centers’ new facility is located at 8000 Towers Crescent Drive in Vienna, Va.
