dcTechSource.com is in the business of covering the latest developments in the DC-area technology industry. It’s our job to look at every aspect of the local technology community, and we have gotten to know a number of the local leaders and innovators. With that, the inaugural dcTechSource.com Technology Leadership Awards will recognize the local technology business people and champions who are helping to shape the local environment. If you know of someone in the D.C. area (Washington D.C., Northern VA or Maryland) who deserves to be recognized, we want to hear from you.

Categories:

• Made in the DC Region – Recognizing the region's most innovative offering – service, product, etc. This award highlights the latest developments coming out of the DC-region. While the company producing the innovation does not need to be headquartered in the Washington D.C. area, the development team must be based here. Likewise, if your company is headquartered here, we want to know that the entire creative process took place here – from concept to development to implementation. This award uniquely recognizes breakthroughs that could only happen here.
   
• Only In DC Award – Recognizing businesses that are unique to the Washington D.C.-area, with this award we are looking for you to tell us, why you couldn’t have done what you are doing anyplace else. The D.C. region and its proximity to the federal government offer a number of incentives and benefits that enable companies to compete on a global basis. We want to recognize the business that best showcases businesses that are unique to this region.
   
• Technology Entrepreneur of the Year – An area executive who has taken the initiative to create and lead one of the areas innovative start-up technology companies. This is a leader who not only has the vision to identify the need, but also has the drive, determination and people skills to build an organization to support this vision. Nominees must still be involved with the organization they founded and the organization must be under 3 years old as of December 31, 2010.
   
• Technology Visionary – Unlike the other categories, this person has a long track record of identifying issues and creating solutions. As visionaries these nominees are able to consistently see opportunities where others see obstacles. We want to recognize the individuals who have dedicated their careers to leading the way.
