National Nanotech Summit Headed to Region
By Bob Keefe | July 29, 2010
When it comes to technology, small will be big in the Washington area in December.
Industry groups and government officials announced they've selected the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in Maryland for what they say will be a first-of-its-kind National Nanotechnology Innovation Summit Dec. 8-10.
The event promises to connect nanotechnology companies from throughout the country with government leaders and policymakers, venture capitalists and potential customers.
"This summit will be an unprecedented gathering of U.S. world-class revolutionary technologists and leaders from … 25 supporting government agencies," Clayton Teague, director of the
National Nanotechnology Coordination Office said in a statement.
The event is timed around the 10th anniversary of a Clinton administration nanotechnology initiative that organizers say has resulted in more than $12 billion in R&D investment in nanotechnology.
Along with the government, sponsors of the event include the
Nano Science and Technology Institute and the
National Venture Capital Association.
