Rockville, MD, July 19, 2010 —
Micro Focus® (LSE.MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, today announced that the company has earned the Microsoft Technology Innovation Award at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference last week in Washington, DC. The award was given to Micro Focus for their contribution of application modernization and application quality tools that enable the migration and reuse of mainframe applications on the Microsoft Application Platform, including Azure(TM).
The award recognizes the consistency of Micro Focus’ emphasis on application modernization and the depth of its utilization of key Microsoft technologies, including Visual Studio 2010, ADO.NET and .NET. In particular, it recognizes new products that Micro Focus has brought to market in the past year, including Micro Focus Visual COBOL, CICS for .NET, DevPartner Studio, Silk4Net and Analyzer Express.
"Thanks in part to the contributions of partners like Micro Focus, our business-critical migration practice grew by over 120 percent last year, and is emerging as a key area of focus for Microsoft’s Enterprise Business," said Bob Ellsworth, Director, Enterprise Platform Modernization at Microsoft. "Each of Micro Focus’ products use Visual Studio 2010, enabling developers to more easily build new applications, manage existing applications, and reduce the cost of IT."
"At Micro Focus, we offer our clients choices for their paths to modernization, and this award recognizes the success we’ve had enabling enterprises to quickly, easily and cost-effectively move applications to the Microsoft application platform," said Peter Duffell, Vice President of Strategic Partners at Micro Focus. "We’re thrilled to have won this award, and look forward to continuing to build a successful partnership with Microsoft to support our customers’ needs."
In April 2010, Micro Focus launched a new generation of developer tools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. These products include:
Micro Focus Visual COBOL, which enables developers to exploit existing enterprise applications on the Microsoft platform. The millions of organizations that continue to rely on COBOL-based applications to run their business now have a low-risk opportunity to take advantage of Visual Studio 2010 without the need for rewriting their applications.
Micro Focus Silk4Net, the proven choice of QA professionals for powerful functional and regression test automation, brings the best test automation capabilities to Visual Studio 2010. It achieves the benefits that have been sought after with test automation for many years and are now demanded in Agile transformations.
Micro Focus DevPartner Studio, which enables developers to debug, analyze, test and tune applications and delivers enhanced visibility into the inner workings of applications being developed within Visual Studio 2010.
Micro Focus Analyzer Express for Visual Studio, which helps developers accelerate their day-to-day maintenance activities. Developers can be faced with complex application structures, which can be extremely challenging to fully understand. This slows the execution of much needed business requirements.
In addition to these development and testing products integrated with Visual Studio 2010, Micro Focus also provides leading capabilities that enable mainframe customers to migrate enterprise applications to the Windows platform, including the recently announced Micro Focus CICS for .NET product, which provides a managed code solution onto Microsoft technology.
