Dr. J. Greg Hanson Promoted to COO of Criterion Systems

Former U.S. Senate CIO to Lead Operations Organization and Help Accelerate Company Growth

VIENNA, Va.--Criterion Systems, a systems integrator that provides innovative, technology-enabled business solutions to government agencies, today announced the promotion of Dr. J. Greg Hanson to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Dr. Hanson joined the company in 2008 to lead the teams supporting mission-critical systems for the Departments of Defense (DoD) and Homeland Security (DHS). In his new role he will oversee all business operations and provide strategic leadership as Criterion Systems continues to expand its footprint in the federal marketplace. Dr. Hanson’s promotion comes as company co-founder Mike Dillard, formerly COO of Criterion Systems, takes on full responsibility as President and COO at sister company, Criterion HPS.

"I am delighted to announce Greg’s promotion – he has been instrumental in building the operations organization and expanding business with existing customers," said Promod Sharma, President and CEO of Criterion. "Greg’s depth of technical knowledge and proven leadership combined with his deep understanding of our customers and their challenges make him the perfect choice to guide our operations organization to continued success."

Dr. Hanson has nearly 32 years of technology leadership experience. Prior to joining Criterion, he served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the U.S. Senate. Previously, Dr. Hanson held CTO positions at Universal Systems & Technology (UNITECH) and Telos Corporation, a $200M international technology company serving private and government markets. During his tenure at Telos, as a customer-focused CTO, Dr. Hanson deployed technology and infrastructure to help create five new businesses. While at UNITECH, he led the development and execution of technology and business strategies, doubling the company’s annual revenues in less than two years. As Chief Software Engineer for the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Hanson developed global software policies and led the agency’s Y2K program. He also served as Chief Scientist at NATO’s Central Region Headquarters.

Dr. Hanson earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, a Master’s of Science degree in Information Systems from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Air Force Academy.

"I look forward to my continued work with the executive team and especially our stellar employees who are helping our customers fight the Global War on Terror, secure our nation’s airports and serve America’s citizens," commented Dr. Hanson. "Criterion’s leadership team shares the philosophy that delivering our customers quality service and creating a positive work environment for our employees are the cornerstones required to accelerate company growth."
