Fortress Technologies, which specializes in secure tactical wireless communications for civilian and government clients, announced that Symantec has completed an independent commercial vulnerability assessment of its latest system software.
The ES520 Secure Wireless Bridge software that Symantec tested is used to oversee the performance and control of Fortress’ outdoor deployable, man-wearable, and vehicle-based wireless networking solutions. The test included sustained attacks, where Symantec’s team of professionals attempted to hack into the system using the methods attackers would use as if the system was deployed.
The test, according to Fortress, was a success with Symantec finding the overall architecture of the system software to be designed and implemented with security best practices in mind.
Fortress vice president of marketing, Jeff Bradbury, said in a release that its recognizes the importance of securing the wireless infrastructure of its customers. He noted that Symantec’s "independent commercial validation serves as an additional level of protection for our DoD and civilian government customers."
