Deltek Launches Online Network for Government Contractors
“The problem begging to be solved was using technology to bring supply and demand together,” White said.

After Herndon, Va.-based enterprise management software company Deltek acquired mySBX in mid-December 2009, the newly merged companies immediately started redrawing mySBX’s online government contracting network, resulting in the January 21st launch of govWin, a "one stop shop for government contractors," according to Jeff White, the former head of mySBX.
When mySBX launched its government contracting site in 2008, the Washington Post dubbed it "eHarmony for government contractors," and White said the analogy works. "The problem begging to be solved was using technology to bring supply and demand together," White said.
The site, www.govWin.com, helps companies pair up to win government contracts. "Large companies like Lockheed Martin, CACI, Serco and ManTech had a lot of billable opportunities but faced a fragmented marketplace with small companies," White said.
White said Lockheed Martin looks to solely them to find teaming partners. "Lockheed Martin does more than $7 billion a year in subcontract work with small businesses. This is one company alone that is using govWin to find that $7 billion in subcontracting work," White said.
"We have more relationships with government contractors than anyone in the world outside the U.S. government," said Patrick Smith, senior director of public relations at Deltek.
The site sends "match alerts" directly to contractors to let them know if a certain company has the capabilities it needs to win a contract. Right now, they send an average of 3,000 match alerts a week.
The site uses a Software as a Service model called govWin CRM that streamlines the contract process—from identifying opportunities to writing the proposal to winning the contract—as well as assisting with contract management. "It is truly from conception to contract to compliance to end-of-contract closeout," White said.
The site also has a user interface, user groups and message boards designed to foster an online community among government contractors.
"What wins contracts for the government is your ability to bring the best of teams together," White said. "We have the only place known right now to do very aggressive and efficient discovery of the best teaming partners."
