Deltek and Apptis Partner to Bring Cloud-Based Solution to Government

Deltek and Apptis are working together to develop a cloud-based project management solution designed specifically for Federal agencies.

Two local companies are partnering to provide government agencies with a cloud-based project management solution that will help the government cut back on costs and increase accountability at Federal agencies. Cloud computing is one of the top areas of government IT importance.

Deltek Inc., a Herndon, Va.-based software company and developer of the online government contracting network govWin, and Apptis, a Chantilly, Va.-based company offering IT and communications services to defense and civilian agencies will share in the partnership.

The two companies will work to bring Deltek’s enterprise project management software, Deltek Cobra and Deltek wInsight, to a cloud-computing platform for government use.

"Together, we are going to market to offer Federal agencies a cloud-based software solution to help improve contractor oversight and comply with OMB mandates for project performance transparency," said Patrick Smith, communications director at Deltek.

The measure is projected to save Federal dollars, as cloud technologies cost less than traditional project management solutions. It will also help agencies oversee contractors and comply with mandates from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to keep project performance transparent.

"Given government mandates to use the Federal IT Dashboard to track project performance and to use the cloud to reduce IT expenses, our combined solution comes to market at a time of need for the government," Smith said.

"Cloud computing is a fundamental advance in information technology that will drastically reduce the cost of the IT infrastructure," said Bert Notini, CEO of Apptis.

Under the partnership, Deltek will provide the software and Apptis will manage data security and the overall infrastructure.
