Aquilent Chosen to Develop Collaborative Comment Analysis and Response Application (CARA) for USDA Forest Service
Web-Based System to Improve Citizen Participation with Modernized, Cost-Saving Processes
July 19, 2010
LAUREL, Md.--Aquilent, the recognized leading provider of Web-based solutions shaping the next generation of technology for the federal government, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service has selected the Company to develop a new Comment Analysis and Response Application (CARA). The web-based solution will provide citizens with a significantly enhanced opportunity to participate in environmental planning, while streamlining related processes to reduce administrative expenses.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) manages more than 155 National Forests and Grasslands throughout the U.S. The public has an important role in the planning and environmental analysis process. The fully-hosted IT solution provided through Aquilent will help the USDA Forest Service to meet the President’s requirement for a more open and participatory government with a highly user-friendly application. The flexible and scalable CARA system will reduce administrative workload on the Forest Service field staff, centralize and improve the collection of public comments, modernize the comment analysis and response process, and produce cost savings. In addition to the designing and developing the web-based solution, Aquilent will provide integration services to accomplish the interconnections of the solution with other departmental applications, support materials for the training of all Forest Service employees involved, and materials for the operations and administration of CARA.
"The CARA system is a prime example of how agencies like the USDA Forest Service are taking the mandate for increased citizen participation very seriously," explained Aquilent CEO David Fout. "In addition, the flexibility and cost-savings associated with this kind of web-based application make it a true win-win for all parties."
