Aquilent Supports Collaborative Redesign of USA.gov

Citizens Gain Increased Access to Key Government Resources

LAUREL, Md.--Aquilent, the recognized leading provider of Web-based solutions shaping the next generation of technology for the federal government, today announced its lead role in the redesign of USA.gov and GobiernoUSA.gov, which serve as the U.S. government's official web portals. Under the direction of the U.S. General Services Administration Office of Citizen Services & Innovative Technologies, the companion sites provide a centralized resource for information from U.S. local, state, and federal government agency websites.

The newest features, developed through a highly iterative process, enable a significantly increased collaborative and participatory platform for citizens, in line with President Obama’s mandate for a more open government.

The new features include:

  • Look & Feel: A new, clean look and feel that creates a more open, focused interface featuring innovative tools such as rotating banners highlighting opportunities for citizens to more directly interact with the government for everything from a passport application to participation in discussions for specific agency strategies
  • More Sophisticated Search Engine: Up to nine times faster and more accurate, prominently featuring the five most popular search terms daily
  • Government Apps Gallery: Showcases some of the most innovative native apps and mobile-friendly websites from across the federal government
  • More Accessible Multi-lingual Content: All of the most popular content like Online Services, Contact Your Government, and the A-Z index of government agencies is now accessible through mega-dropdown menus that appear on every page
  • New Mobile Apps Store Website: ( http://apps.usa.gov/ ) Provides instant, convenient access to a wide range of mobile activities with tools that give users the ability to conduct activities on the go such as the ability to scan a product's barcode to determine if it appears on a recall list

"The President’s Open Government Directive is based on the three principles of transparency, participation, and collaboration. The new USA.gov website is an outstanding example of how the government is addressing this directive by further opening its information to the public," stated David Fout, President and CEO of Aquilent. "This redesigned site enables citizens to feel empowered and truly included in the government process. Aquilent is proud to have the opportunity to play a role in the redesign of this pivotal site."
