Digital Capital Week
All Day Event
Venue:
DC Area
Ten Days of Creative Technology Events
There’s so much happening during Digital Capital Week (DCWEEK) that it’s going to be a bit overwhelming for everyone to understand, so this post summarizes everything. Here goes:
1) There are 3200+ people attending, roughly 85% from DC, MD, VA but also from a couple hundred from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. A full PDF with detailed demographic/geographic/qualitative info can be found here.
2) All 100+ events can be found on the "DCWEEK Sched" – download the iPhone App for mobile access. Separately our Project Labs catalog what projects people are working on.
3) Join the Facebook Group, follow @dcweek on twitter, and use #dcweek to follow/join the conversation
4) Keep in mind that most of the events on the Sched require an RSVP of some kind and some cost money (most don’t). Adding an event to your Sched doesn’t grant you access to the event – you need to RSVP. The festival’s core events and their RSVPs are as follows:
June 11th – Opening Party
http://dcwopening.eventbrite.com ($20)
June 12th – CityCampDC Day 1 (Unconference at GWU)
http://citycampdc.eventbrite.com (free)
June 13th – CityCampDC Day 2 (On-site in neighborhoods then GWU)
http://citycampdc.eventbrite.com (free)
June 14th – Open Format
No Theme – find something to do on the DCWEEK Sched (free)
June 15th – Media 2.0 Day
http://dcwmedia20.eventbrite.com (free)
June 16th – Gov & Org 2.0 Day
http://dcwgovorg.eventbrite.com (free)
June 17th - 140Conf DC + TECH cocktail
http://dc.140conf.com ($60) and http://techcocktail9.eventbrite.com ($10)
June 18th – Digital Garage Day 1 + Show Tell Hire
http://digitalgarage.eventbrite.com (free) and http://showtellhire.eventbrite.com (varies)
June 19th – Digital Garage Day 2 + Closing Party
http://digitalgarage.eventbrite.com (free) and http://techarts930.eventbrite.com ($20)
June 20th – Flash Picnic on the Mall
http://bit.ly/cEuJhp (free)
So here’s what I’d do if I were you: click through on the events you find interesting, RSVP, grab a badge below (we’ll have actual stickers of each of these for everything you attend – digital badges are so 2009!). If you write a blog post about what you’re looking forward to and use one of the badges we’ll link to it in our recap posts on this blog and get the word out about your DCWEEK perspective.
